We use your information to estimate and repair your vehicle. We measure how this website is used so we know which pages actually help people. We do not sell your information to anyone.

What We Collect
What you type into the form
The quote form on our contact page asks for your name, phone number, email address, vehicle year, make and model, insurance carrier, and a description of the damage. You may include a claim number. If you call, email, or send damage photos, we keep what you send.
What is collected automatically while you browse
When you visit the site, the analytics tools listed below collect your IP address, your browser and device type, your approximate location from that IP address, which pages you looked at and in what order, how long you stayed, and the page, search or link that sent you here. If we ever run online advertising, an ad click also carries an identifier so we can tell one ad apart from another. We are not running any advertising at the moment.
One of these tools also records how you used the page. That is described plainly in Session Recording below, because it deserves its own heading rather than a line in a list.
What we never ask for online
Do not send Social Security numbers, driver's license images, or payment card numbers through this website. We do not request them here and cannot secure them in transit.
Why We Collect It
- Write your estimate and schedule the repair.
- Order the correct parts for your vehicle.
- Communicate with your insurance carrier about your claim.
- Reach you with repair updates and completion notice.
- Keep the repair file that backs your workmanship warranty.
- See which pages people actually read, and which ones lose them.
- If we ever advertise, work out which ads bring in real customers and which waste money.
- Meet tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations.
We are a body shop, not an advertising company. We do not build profiles of you to sell, and nothing you type into the quote form is used for advertising.
Who Sees It
- Mike Knight Customs staff working on your vehicle or claim.
- Your insurance carrier and its adjuster, for your claim only.
- Parts suppliers, limited to what an order requires.
- The companies listed in the next section, limited to their function.
- Law enforcement or courts, where the law requires it.
We do not sell personal information, and no one pays us for access to it. One thing worth being straight about rather than making a broader promise than we can keep: Google Analytics is a Google product, so Google receives information about visits to this site. We do not currently run any advertising, and we do not use that information to follow you around other websites. If that ever changes, this page changes first. Either way you can switch the whole thing off using Your Privacy Choices below, and we honor the Global Privacy Control automatically.
The Tracking Tools We Use
These are all of them. Each company has its own privacy policy, and each link below goes to it.
- Google Analytics 4
- Counts visits and shows which pages get read. Collects IP address, device and browser, pages viewed, and where you came from. Google privacy policy
- Microsoft Clarity
- Records how pages are used, including a replay of the visit. Collects the same browsing information plus mouse movement, clicks and scrolling. Microsoft privacy statement
- Google Ads
- Not in use. We are not running online advertising. If we start, this row will describe what it collects before the first ad goes live, not after. Google advertising policy
- Vercel
- Hosts the website and counts page views without using cookies. Vercel privacy policy
- Web3Forms
- Delivers quote form submissions to our inbox. Web3Forms privacy policy
- Microsoft
- Hosts the shop email account that receives your enquiry. Microsoft privacy statement
Session Recording
Microsoft Clarity records your visit and lets us play it back. The recording includes where you moved your mouse, what you clicked, how far you scrolled, and how long you spent on each part of the page. We watch these to find the places where the site is confusing or broken.
What you type is masked before it leaves your browser. The quote form is set to mask everything inside it, so your name, phone number, email address, vehicle details and damage description do not appear in a recording and are never uploaded to Microsoft.
If you would rather not be recorded at all, turn it off in Your Privacy Choices. The site works exactly the same either way.
Your Privacy Choices
You can change your mind at any time, from any page, in any country. The Privacy Choices link sits in the footer of every page on this site. Opening it lets you allow or refuse measurement and advertising cookies.
If you refuse, we stop loading Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, along with any advertising tag we might add later, and any cookies they already set are no longer used to identify you. Nothing about the site stops working, and it will never change your price or the quality of your repair.
You can also clear cookies in your browser at any time, or block them for this site entirely. Google offers its own Analytics opt-out add-on if you want to switch it off across every website you visit.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
California law requires us to tell you how this site responds to a browser "Do Not Track" signal. There has never been an agreed standard for what a site should do when it receives one, and we do not change our behavior based on it. Use Your Privacy Choices instead, which we do act on.
We do honor the Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends a GPC signal, we treat advertising storage as refused for you automatically, everywhere in the world, without you having to click anything. You can still allow it deliberately in Privacy Choices if you want to.
Where Form Submissions Go
When you submit the quote form, it goes to a company called Web3Forms, which immediately emails it to the shop's inbox at Microsoft. Mike and the staff who write estimates read it. It is not posted anywhere public and it is not sent to any advertiser.
The submission also carries a note of where you came from, for example which search or which link brought you to the site. That is how we work out which parts of the site are earning their keep, and if we ever advertise, which ads are worth continuing. It is a note about the visit, not about you.
If your enquiry does not become a repair, tell us and we will delete it. Otherwise it stays in the inbox as a business record.
How Long We Keep It
Repair files, estimates, and claim correspondence stay on record for as long as your workmanship warranty runs and as long as tax and recordkeeping law requires. A quote request that never becomes a repair is kept only as a business record and is deleted on request.
Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically. Clarity recordings are kept for 30 days. Cookie lifetimes are listed in Cookies We Set.
California Privacy Rights
A shop our size falls below the revenue and volume thresholds that trigger the full California Consumer Privacy Act. We honor these requests anyway, because you should be able to ask a business what it knows about you regardless of how big the business is.
- Know. Ask what personal information we hold about you and where it came from.
- Delete. Ask us to delete it, subject to records we must keep by law.
- Correct. Ask us to fix information that is wrong.
- Opt out. Refuse measurement and advertising cookies through Your Privacy Choices, or by sending a Global Privacy Control signal.
- Non-discrimination. Exercising a right will never change your price or the quality of your repair.
To exercise any of these, call (530) 214-9949 or email mikeknightcustoms@hotmail.com with the vehicle and approximate date so we can find your file. We will verify your identity before acting, and we respond within the time the statute allows.
Security
This site is served over HTTPS, and access to repair files is limited to staff who need them. No transmission over the internet is completely secure. Send sensitive documents in person or by phone rather than through this website.
Children
This site is meant for vehicle owners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and Contact
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly. If we ever add a tracking tool, it gets added to the table above before it goes live, not after.
