OEM Advocacy

When your vehicle is damaged, two negotiations begin: one about metal, and one about money. This document explains how Mike Knight Customs wins both on your behalf, with factory parts, factory procedures, and zero tolerance for shortcuts.

The 100% OEM Structural Integrity Protocol

Parts Standard

Why It Matters

Your car was engineered once. We repair it exactly as it was engineered.

Modern vehicles are single, integrated safety systems. Every panel thickness, weld point, and bracket position was validated in factory crash testing. Aftermarket and salvage parts were not part of that test, so at MKC, only factory parts go into the repair.

R/01

Compromised Crumple Zones

Crumple zones are engineered to collapse in a precise sequence, absorbing crash energy before it reaches the cabin. Aftermarket structural parts routinely vary in alloy, gauge, and geometry: small differences that change how force travels through the body in the next collision. A part that's 90% right is 100% untested.

R/02

Blinded ADAS Systems

Automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, and adaptive cruise depend on radar and camera units mounted to millimeter-accurate datum points in bumpers, grilles, and windshields. Off-spec brackets and imitation covers can skew sensor aim or attenuate radar. The system may show no warning light while seeing the road wrong. Every MKC structural repair concludes with OEM-procedure ADAS recalibration.

R/03

Eroded Resale & Diminished Value

A vehicle history showing non-OEM structural repair invites lower appraisals, failed pre-purchase inspections, and diminished value claims. Documented factory-part repair is the difference between a car that sells and a car that gets negotiated down.

Criterion
OEM · The MKC Standard
Aftermarket / LKQ-QRP
Crash Validation
Validated in the manufacturer's original crash-test program
No obligation to match factory crash-test performance
Structural Tolerance
Factory alloy, gauge, and geometry that fits datum points as designed
Variable metallurgy and fitment; frequently requires forced alignment
ADAS Compatibility
Sensor mounts and materials match calibration assumptions
Can skew sensor aim or signal behavior with no dash warning
Corrosion Protection
Factory e-coat and warranty-grade coatings
Coating quality varies by producer; premature rust risk
Resale Value
Documented OEM repair preserves appraisal and history report standing
Non-OEM structural history invites markdowns and diminished value

The Insurance Claims Advocacy Framework

Claims Procedure

From first call to final delivery, MKC operates as your protective shield. You hand us the claim number; we handle everything that follows. Here is exactly how.

01 Intake

We Take the Paperwork Off Your Desk

Claim filing, damage documentation, teardown photography, and the full repair plan, assembled by us, submitted by us. You get a single point of contact and plain-language updates. The adjuster gets a professionally documented file that's easy to approve.

02 OEM Advocacy

We Write the Repair to Factory Procedure

Every line of our estimate is tied to the manufacturer's published repair procedures: OEM part numbers, required welds, corrosion protection steps, and mandatory ADAS calibrations. When the estimate is anchored to the factory manual, "optional" stops being an argument the insurer can make.

03 Negotiation

We Handle the Adjuster Conversation for You

Every conversation about parts, labor hours, and refinish steps happens with us, not with you. We supplement the claim with documented evidence, cite the factory procedure, and work with the adjuster until the approved repair matches the required repair, so only factory parts go on your vehicle.

04 Refinish Mandate

We Mandate Premium Paint Blending

Painting the damaged panel alone is a recipe for visible color mismatch. We require proper blending into adjacent panels, spectrophotometer-verified color formulation, and factory gloss standards, and we secure the refinish hours that make an invisible transition possible.

05 Delivery

You Get the Vehicle, and the Proof

Final delivery includes the complete repair file: OEM parts invoices, structural measurements, calibration reports, and refinish documentation. It protects your resale value, supports any diminished value claim, and backs the lifetime warranty we put on the work.
